Bernie Kautz became involved with the Foundation, in the fall of 1992, by assisting with the formation of the South County Performing Arts Center Guild, and served as its founding Chair. Mrs. Kautz was appointed as Chair of the Foundations’ Capital Campaign and gave leadership to completing the nine and one half million needed to build the Clark Center. She currently serves as President of the Foundation Board. Bernie was named “Citizen of the Year” by the Arroyo Grande Chamber of Commerce in 2002. In support of community performing arts Bernie has served as producer of the annual production of the Central Coast Follies, a fundraiser for Parkinson’s Disease, since 2003. Bernie and her husband Ron moved to the Central Coast in the spring of 1992 and have been volunteers in a variety of community organizations and activities.
Gene Mintz is a current director and Vice-President of the Foundation. He is a business and tax advisor and owner of GSM Business Services, Inc. A life long resident of San Luis Obispo County, Gene is involved in a number of professional and civic associations. He is a 40 year member of the Greater Pismo Beach Kiwanis Club and a 35 year member of the Oceano/Five Cities Elks Club. He has served the City of Grover Beach for 12 years as a Planning Commissioner. Gene is also a Founder and Director of Coast National Bank, headquartered in San Luis Obispo.
Jim Stegall after retiring from his CPA practice in Orange County, Jim quickly became involved with the board, currently serving as the chief financial officer. He also serves as the Chief Financial Officer for the Sunrise Terrace Mobile Home Park. He enjoys golf and is a RAMS fan. Jim and his wife Pat moved to the Central Coast in 1994.
Carol Rust a pianist and organist, Carol has held an office in various music organizations. She was the guiding force in acquiring the new Steinway for the Clark Center. Carol currently serves as the head of the Foundation Scholarship and Grants program and as secretary for the board. Carol and her husband Bill moved to the Central Coast in 1959.
Judith Bean has spent the majority of the last twenty years in non-profit management.
She is the current President/CEO of the Arroyo Grande Valley Chamber of Commerce. She worked for The Tribune as a Marketing and Public Affairs Manager and was recognized as a Cuesta College Woman of Distinction in 1997. Judith and her husband, Major Robert H. Bean, Ret. have been married for nineteen years and have one son, Seth.
Clifford Clark served in the Army Air Corps during WWII. He entered Pre-law in 1944, graduated from USC Law School 1950 and was admitted to the bar in 1951. Clifford moved to Grover Beach in 1958 and became extensively and actively involved in the community. His “hobbies” included: incorporating cities, starting banks, building parks, visionary and driving force behind the Performing Arts Center, which bears his name, hunting elk and long-distance flying. He was born in 1927, during the depression, with red hair. Clifford and his wife Mary-Lee have been married for more than sixty years and have three children.
Stephen Cool is a retired Arroyo Grande attorney. He is a former member and Chair of the Executive Committee of the Real Property Law Section of the California State Bar. He has served as president of the San Luis Obispo County Bar Association, Board of Pacific Repertory Opera, and the Rotary Club of Arroyo Grande. He assisted with the formation of the Grover Beach Chamber of Commerce, sat on the Board of Directors of Cuesta Title Guarantee Company and was the Arroyo Grande “Citizen of the Year” in 1996. Steve currently is the chair of the Clark Center Endowment Committee. Steve and his wife, Karla, have three children.
Daryl Flood was an original employee of Mid-State Bank, retired.. He is a thirty-eight year member of the Kiwanis Club of Greater Pismo Beach and has served on the Lucia Mar Unified School Board for thirteen years. Daryl is an avid golfer. Daryl and his wife Bernice have lived in Arroyo Grande since 1961. They have three children and seven grandchildren.
Charles A. Jordan an attorney in Arroyo Grande, practicing business and real estate law and estate planning since 1978. He is a California native and an engineering graduate of Cal Poly. Charles and his wife, Judith Dunlore, a professional singer and voice instructor, are active in many areas of the local arts community including Clark Center productions and the local Pacific Repertory Opera.
Peg Miller a founder of the Old Towne Nipomo Association. She is an active leader in the Dana Adobe Los Amigos and the Nipomo Community Advisory Council. As a developer and business leader in Nipomo since 1959, she has been honored as Citizen of the Year and as Business of the Year. She is one of the longest serving members of the board and has chaired many committees. Peg and her husband, James, have been visionaries of the Nipomo community. She is a Central Coast native; born in Sisquoc and raised in Orcutt.
